“Stop it!!! You know it tickles,” she said with a serious tone.

He always had a fascination to move a girl’s hair over her ear. All his life he has been a stubborn person but whenever he is her, he becomes more submissive; obeying her every word. Life has never been so sweeter after meeting her. He holds her hand firmly while muttering, “I have found my angel in you. Never leave me!!” This always puts a smile on her face and he finds solace in her smile. He knows that she puts a fake smile on her face. A smile that she hates to wear. Today she has been acting strange. He asks himself “Why?!” A person so close yet so far.

“If you quit playing with my hair, can I say something?! Please, it’s important”, said she.

He felt his heart rippling with fear. Today he couldn’t see his reflection in her eyes. He always feared this presence of her. A sterile desert with no guiding stars. A body without a soul.

“It’s not working for us. It’s not your fault nor mine but it’s getting harder for me.” She paused.

It struck him like a lightning. Maybe he was not expecting this from her!!! His thoughts conflicted with the reality. His lips wanted to mutter, “How could you??” but it remained unuttered. This question is insignificant as a speck of dust within the galaxy.

A dead silence engulfed the whole room. Staring at those empty white walls, he reminisces his deed. Is there any sort of way for his redemption? He finds no proper answer to his “how” and “why”. A lot of “maybe”-s confuse his dreaded thoughts. All of his feeling for her is irrelevant now.

“Maybe the journey ends here. Maybe life is not a wish-granting factory!!” he finally starts to accept every bitter truths still a doubt remains.

“Why we lose someone when we need them the most!! Why some people come into our lives and quickly go!!! These are those people who leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.” His thoughts made him suffocate even more.

Those old days maybe were the best time that he had spent with her. “Gosh!! Those days!!!” His heart skipped a beat when he first saw her. He was so much in love with her and ready to face the consequences that came with it. He liked to gamble with his future; a future where only ‘us’ remained. Once she had redeemed his soul but conversely NOW, she has taken away the resurrection stone from him and left him pauperized. His heart is now like a barren land; a heart without its beating.

His thoughts are startled by a sudden beep. A beep; with which he has been accustomed himself in his day to day life. Popping up on his notification bar which said, “Have you had your dinner yet?”; brought back his sanity.

With a smirk, he thinks to himself that life is full of twists and turns. Maybe this LIFE is a wish-granting factory!! Now life won’t be that much bitter that it was used to be.
